The 9th annual Superhick '08 was definately the best contest Ive been to so far, and I recommend all Rollerbladers make it a priority to attend next year. It wasn't because they crowned yours truly a new Masters champ (30 and over retired pro) this year, ha,ha. The main reason I loved it was all of the different contests they have: Groms -12 and under, Open class, Old Man -25+, Masters, Superchick and Pro-AM. They gave out cash for every event (except Groms). Seeing all ages and abilities of skaters, all competing on the same course, was truly inspiring. The entire weekend was dedicated to Josh Waggoner, an Atlanta skater who passed on in a tragic accident while skating. His family was there the entire weekend supporting Josh's memory and all his fellow rollerbladers. We took time for a moment of silence before the Pro-Am and award ceremony and all yelled and screamed up to the heavens to let Josh know we will never forget him. I got to introduce his super strong, supportive mom to speak on Josh's behalf in a tear jerking moment that put life in perspective. The moral of her words was to appreciate every moment of life, and to thank the Skatepile family for all of the support through these hard times. Be sure to check Skatepile.com for all the results and edits of Superhick 2008. -Tracy White
